Rosstandart banned import and sale of Shacman SX3258 trucks

The Federal Agency for Technical Regulation and Metrology (Rosstandart) has withdrawn vehicle type approval (VTA) for Shacman SX3258 trucks. This is stated in a statement published on February 10 on the official website of the agency.

The reason for the recall of the vehicle type approval is related to the non-compliance of Shacman SX3258 vehicles with a number of mandatory requirements for vehicles, Rosstandart said. We are talking about noise restrictions, rear underride and side guards, etc., the agency specified.

"These violations pose a significant danger to the health and life of both the drivers of vehicles themselves and other road users. Thus, inconsistencies in the part of the rear underride protection (or the so-called underride bar) and side guards carry a direct threat to the life and health of drivers and passengers of passenger vehicles, which in case of getting into an accident involving such cargo equipment will cause significant damage", - stated in the message of Rosstandart.

As indicated, violations in terms of noise restrictions are a factor of industrial stress, directly affect the well-being and health of the driver of such a cargo vehicle, contribute to his fatigue, which may eventually cause an accident.

The agency ordered the manufacturer's representative in Russia to organize and conduct a recall campaign for the trucks. In addition, according to the agency, "any kind of sales of Shacman trucks of SX3258 type should be suspended. For violation of this requirement will be applied administrative responsibility, emphasize in Rosstandart.

According to preliminary information of the agency, more than 15 thousand units of potentially dangerous Shacman SX3258 trucks were imported into Russia, of which 2170 are already in operation.

Earlier in the day it was reported that the company LLC "Shacman Motors" announced the temporary suspension of sales of trucks type SX3258 category N3G in 18 modifications.

On February 6, "Izvestia" drew attention to the fact that the General Prosecutor's Office initiated an unscheduled supervisory control measure (SCM) in relation to the company LLC "Shakman Motors", which represents the Chinese brand of commercial vehicles Shacman in Russia.
