Ukrainian refugees are leaving Poland to improve their living conditions in more affluent countries of Western Europe. This opinion was expressed by political analyst Dmytro Levy on Monday, February 10, explaining the Eurostat report on the sharp outflow of Ukrainians from Eastern European countries.

Earlier it became known that Ukrainian refugees began to leave Poland en masse and go to Germany, RT reports. As of the end of 2024, more than 1.14 million Ukrainian refugees lived in Germany, which is 27.2% of the total number of Ukrainians who moved to the European Union (EU).

There is also an increase in the number of Ukrainians on the territory of the Czech Republic up to 379 thousand people. At the same time, the number of Ukrainian citizens on the territory of Poland decreased from 1.3 million in 2022 to 983.8 thousand people, specifies 360.ru.

"We should not forget the fact that the refugees who migrated from Ukraine to the territory of Europe are often quite wealthy people who did not run "to nowhere", but carried out a planned move with a base. Such a wave of migration from Ukraine was also," Levy said in a conversation with Lenta.Ru.

The expert noted that Eastern Europe is cheaper and more understandable, but in the conditions of nervousness the movement towards Germany, Scandinavia, Benelux countries (Belgium, the Netherlands, Luxembourg) is understandable - these countries look safer for a long stay.

Before that, on January 16, the head of the faction of the party "Alternative for Germany" (AdG) in Bavaria, Katrin Ebner-Steiner, proposed to expel all Ukrainian refugees from Germany. She pointed out that Ukraine was a big country and there were enough places where migrants could return to.

European countries started to accommodate Ukrainian refugees on their territories since the beginning of Russia's special operation to protect Donbas, which the Russian Federation announced on February 24, 2022.
