Putin noted surgeon Davydov's unique contribution to the development of medicine


Russian President Vladimir Putin has expressed condolences over the death of oncologic surgeon Mikhail Davydov and noted his unique contribution to the development of medicine. The corresponding telegram of the head of state was published on February 10 on the Kremlin website.
"Academician Davydov was an outstanding scientist, a major organizer, a benevolent and responsive person. Over the years of fruitful, sought-after work, he made a truly unique contribution to the development of medical science and national health care, raised more than one generation of talented students," the president said.
He also emphasized that Davydov set an example of fidelity to the chosen cause and moral duty.
Davydov died on February 8 at the 78th year of life. As specified in the press service of the National Medical Research Center of Oncology named after N. N. Blokhin. NN Blokhin, the surgeon died due to a severe prolonged illness.
Mikhail Davydov was born in 1947 in Konotop, Sumy region, Ukrainian SSR. He held the position of Director of the NIIC Oncology named after N.N. Blokhin. N.N. Blokhin from 2001 to 2017, was the chief freelance oncologist of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation, as well as the chief oncologist of the medical center of the Russian Presidential Administration. Davydov made a huge contribution to the formation and development of the school of oncologic surgery in Russia.
