The main risk of using foreign chatbots is non-transparent management of user data. Ivan Pavlovich, CEO of artificial intelligence integrator INTO, told Izvestia on February 11.

"The user's personal data can get into public access, which significantly increases the risks associated with data security. Therefore, when working with services, it is better not to specify any personal information to protect yourself from possible leaks," the expert explained.

According to him, a more acceptable option is the local deployment of models on its own server, it guarantees data security during corporate use.

The expert noted that in early February there were questions about the security systems of the Chinese chatbot DeepSeek. A number of countries sent requests to the company, they remained unanswered, so the service was blocked in these countries. Among them were Italy, Taiwan, the United States, Australia.

Earlier, on February 6, the Dutch government set a ban on the use of Chinese chatbot DeepSeek for government employees.

On the same day, it was reported that the ministries of trade, foreign affairs and defense of South Korea will block access to DeepSeek on their computers. This decision was due to the agencies' desire to avoid possible leaks of critical information through generative artificial intelligence (AI) services.

The DeepSeek platform is developed by a company of the same name, which was founded in 2023 in Hangzhou. Its owner is Chinese hedge fund High-Flyer, focused on using AI to develop algorithms for securities trading. The chatbot is available to users around the world in both mobile app and web page formats.
