The average cost of a used car in Russia decreased by 12%

The average cost of a car with mileage in Russia in January 2025 amounted to 2 million rubles, which is 12% lower than in the same month last year. This was reported to "Izvestia" on February 11 by the experts of "Auto.ru Valuation".

According to the analysts, the average cost of a car with mileage not older than 15 years has not changed much as compared to December 2024. The number of ads for this period decreased by only 2%, and compared to January 2024, the volume of supply increased by 52%.

The list of regions, in which the average cost at the end of the year decreased the most, was headed by the Tula region. Compared to January values, the price of a used car decreased by 9% - to 1.28 million rubles. Then come Vladimir region (-5.8%, Br1.18 million), Kaliningrad region (-4.6%, Br2.15 million), the Republic of Adygea (-4%, Br1.45 million) and Altai Krai (-3%, Br1.56 million).

The two cheapest models were Chery Tiggo 4 Pro (-5%, Br1.63) and Renault Logan second generation (-4.6%, Br997 thousand). The third line was taken by another sedan - Geely Emgrand EC7 (-4.5%, Br472 thousand).

February 7, it was reported that 31.9 thousand new passenger cars were imported into Russia in January 2025. This is twice less than in the same month last year. At the same time, the importation of passenger cars with mileage year-on-year almost unchanged and amounted to 19.4 thousand cars (-2%).

On the same day it became known that in Russia for the year cars of a number of Chinese brands in the secondary market became cheaper, the price decreased by 15-19%. The most noticeable decrease in the average cost of a car with mileage brand Changan: the change amounted to 19.2%. In second place is the Korean brand Genesis, whose cars lost 18% in price.
