Trump reposted Putin's remarks on US duties against the EU

US President Donald Trump on February 9 shared Russian leader Vladimir Putin 's comment on Washington's plans to impose duties against the European Union (EU) on his Truth Social network.
In particular, Trump noted Putin's phrase to journalist Pavel Zarubin that the American leader is capable of "restoring order."
"I assure you: Trump with his character, with his persistence he will quite quickly restore order there (in the EU. - Ed.). And you will see - it will happen quickly, soon - they will all stand at the feet of the master and wave their tails a little. Everything will fall into place," Putin pointed out in his response.
On February 1, Trump signed an executive order imposing trade tariffs of 25% on goods from Canada, China and Mexico. At the same time, he promised to impose duties on goods from the EU. With this decision, Trump seeks to reduce the flow of the opioid fentanyl across the border, as well as the flow of migrants. Later, the American president announced that he would impose duties of 25% on steel and aluminum imported to the United States. Such duties would be imposed on products from those countries that had previously imposed retaliatory restrictions on US products.
Reacting to the plans to impose duties on aluminum and steel imports, the steel producers' association UK Steel said the move would be a crushing blow to the UK steel sector.
