Orban thanked the Patriots of Europe and promised to "take over Brussels"

The Madrid summit of the Patriots of Europe was another important step towards taming Brussels. This was stated by Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban on his X page (former Twitter) on February 10.
The politician also thanked Spanish Congress of Deputies member Santiago Abascal for his "fantastic hospitality".
"The Madrid summit was another important step for us. Together we will tame the bull. Together we will take over Brussels," the statement said.
The Patriots of Europe summit, which unites the parties of the European Parliament group of the same name under Abascal's chairmanship, was held in the Spanish capital on February 7 and 8. It was also attended by the leader of France's far-right National Rally party Marine Le Pen and Abascal himself as chairman of Spain's right-wing Voice party.
Earlier, on February 4, Orban said Hungary was preparing separately from the European Union (EU) to sign a deal with the United States to preserve economic relations between the countries.
Prior to that, on Jan. 28, the Hungarian prime minister said the EU was wandering on the backside of history because it was isolated from China, Russia and the administration of U.S. President Donald Trump. He noted that the liberal period is being replaced by an era of sovereignty, in which security will play an important role.
