An extremist group was neutralized in the Nizhny Novgorod region

In Nizhny Novgorod region, police suppressed the activities of an extremist group. Fifteen people, including the alleged organizer, were detained. This was reported by the official representative of the Russian Interior Ministry Irina Volk in Telegram-channel on February 10.

"My colleagues from the Main Department for Combating Extremism of the Russian Interior Ministry together with officers of the Main Department of the Russian Interior Ministry in Nizhny Novgorod region have suppressed the activities of a group created with the aim of committing crimes motivated by racial, national hatred and hostility in the region," Volk wrote.

The police identified 15 people who may be involved in the activities of the group, including the alleged organizer. All of them were taken to law enforcement agencies, follows from the publication.

According to the report, the criminal group operated under the leadership of a "collegial body", it had a common cash register and a room for gathering participants. The accomplices held meetings, during which they discussed the commission of illegal actions.

During searches, Nazi paraphernalia, uniforms, cold and pneumatic weapons, as well as extremist literature were found at the members of the group.

"On the materials collected by police officers, the investigating authorities initiated a criminal case on the signs of a crime under parts one and two of article 282.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation," - said Volk.

Earlier, on February 5, the head of the Investigative Committee of Russia, Alexander Bastrykin, noted that foreign citizens in Russia have begun to display more "audacious" forms of extremism. According to him, this poses a serious danger to public safety, writes "Gazeta.ru".

In January, the Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation in Rostov Region reported the detention of members of an organized criminal group (OCG) on suspicion of kidnapping military personnel and extortion. It was specified that the members of the group involved in criminal actions two underage girls, who specialized in dating on the Internet with the participants of the special operation for intimate relations with them.
