- Russian Permanent Representative describes the consequences of attempts to oust Russia from UN organizations

Attempts to oust Russia from the United Nations (UN) humanitarian programs have a downside. This was stated by Igor Golubovsky, Russia's permanent representative to the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations and other international organizations in Rome, on 10 February.
According to him, Western countries are obstructing the activities of international organizations by imposing sanctions against Russia.
"Attempts to squeeze Russia [out of the UN] have the opposite side. Russian assistance and participation are necessary for the implementation of humanitarian programs amid a lack of funding, such as the World Food Program," TASS quoted Golubovsky as saying.
He added that Western countries have overreached, as the situation has shown how important Russia is in ensuring food security.
Drawing attention to the expediency of the United States funding of UN organizations, the Russian Permanent Representative also pointed out that this situation would have a certain impact, but it should not be exaggerated.
Earlier in the day, Russian Ambassador to the UN Vasily Nebenzya said that Russia considers the work of the "Friends of Peace" platform, created by China and Brazil to find solutions to the conflict in Ukraine, as a signal to the West about the unacceptability of biased approaches to solving this problem.
Western countries have increased sanctions pressure on Russia after the start of the special operation to protect civilians in Donbass, which was announced on February 24, 2022
