Kursk region resident sentenced to 20 years in prison in state treason case


Kursk regional court sentenced a local resident to 20 years' imprisonment in a case of high treason and sabotage. This was reported on February 10 by the joint press service of the judicial system of the region in Telegram-channel.
It is specified that the defendant in the case is Maxim Moskalev. He through messenger entered into cooperation with a representative of intelligence of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine and, having received the task, made a photo of the military commissariat and sent it to the curator. After that he committed arson of the object of transportation infrastructure.
"Kursk regional court <...> appointed Moskalev punishment in the form of 20 years 6 months of imprisonment with serving the first three years in prison, and the remaining term - in the EC (Correctional Colony - Ed.) strict regime, with a fine of 250 thousand rubles with restriction of freedom for 1 year 6 months," - stated in the statement.
It is noted that the defendant admitted his guilt and expressed regret for what he had done.
Earlier, in December last year, the military court sentenced to 19 years in prison Vasily Zharkov, accused of state treason, participation in the terrorist organization "Legion of Freedom of Russia" (recognized terrorist and banned in Russia) and in the preparation of sabotage at strategic facilities in the Moscow region. The convict himself did not admit guilt.
