- Russian ambassador expresses hope for normalization of relations with Moldova after elections

Russia expects normalization of relations with Moldova after the parliamentary election in the country. This was announced by Russian Ambassador to Moldova Oleg Ozerov on February 10.
"Naturally, we count on the fact that the upcoming parliamentary elections, in general political processes that are taking place in Moldova, will lead to the normalization of our relations," he told RIA Novosti.
Ozerov added that the upcoming elections should also create conditions for the resumption of dialog on the problems of bilateral relations between the countries, which sooner or later will have to be solved.
In Moldova, parliamentary elections are held every four years. The nearest ones are to be held in 2025.
Earlier, in December 2024, former Moldovan president and party leader Igor Dodon said that the government to be formed in the country after the parliamentary elections in 2025 would restore relations with Russia.
In October, Moldova held a referendum on the country's European integration. Only nine of Moldova's 36 districts voted in favor of changing the constitution for the sake of joining the EU, while in Gagauzia more than 90% of those who voted were against European integration. On 25 October, the Moldovan Central Electoral Commission recognized the referendum as valid, approved its final results and sent them to the country's Constitutional Court for approval.
