China's duties will affect $14 billion worth of U.S. goods

Duties against the U.S. from China affect goods worth about $13.86 billion. Such data on February 10 quotes CNN with reference to the statistics of Chinese customs for 2024.
Thus, Beijing's new measures will affect less than 9% of total imports from the United States.
According to the General Administration of Customs of the PRC, the total trade turnover between China and the United States in 2024 increased by 3.7% to $688.28 billion.
Beijing announced on February 4 that it would impose duties of 15% on some coal and liquefied natural gas, and 10% on crude oil, agricultural machinery and some automobiles.
Beijing's decision was a retaliation to the 10 percent additional duties imposed by U.S. President Donald Trump on Feb. 1 on all imported goods from China. In the same executive order, Trump imposed duties of 25 percent on goods from Canada and Mexico.
Reuters reported on February 6 that retaliatory Chinese duties against the United States could lead to a reduction in U.S. oil exports in 2025 for the first time since the COVID-19 pandemic began.
