The FSB detained four heads of UlGTU for abuse of power

The Federal Security Service (FSB) has detained four heads of the Ulyanovsk State Technical University (UlGTU) on suspicion of abuse of power. This was reported by the Investigative Committee (IC) of Russia in its Telegram channel on February 10.

It is specified that the university management from 2022 to 2025 unreasonably enrolled foreign students who did not speak Russian language. For each such student from the budget of the Russian Federation to the account of the educational institution were transferred funds.

"In total, for the specified period, the management of the University was unreasonably enrolled at least 129 foreign students, which caused damage to the budget of the Russian Federation in the amount of about 20 million rubles," - stated in the statement.

A criminal case has been opened against them under part 3 of article 285 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Abuse of official powers, resulting in grave consequences").

The agency added that the investigation of the criminal case is ongoing.

Earlier, on January 14, the former head of the State Automobile Inspection Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia in Krasnoyarsk region Andrei Sirotinin was detained on suspicion of abuse of power. As reported in the regional prosecutor's office, according to the investigation, in the spring of 2024, Sirotinin instructed his subordinates to ensure the theoretical part of the driving test for his acquaintance, who was repairing his apartment.
