Shacman halts truck sales in Russia after prosecutor's office inspection

Shakman Motors Ltd. announced the temporary suspension of sales of trucks type SX3258 of N3G category in 18 modifications. This was announced by the press-service of the company on its website.

The temporary suspension is due to "verification of information received about possible non-compliance of SHACMAN vehicles of SX3258 type N3G category released into circulation with the requirements of the technical regulations of the Customs Union "On the safety of wheeled vehicles" (TR TS TS 018/2011)," the company said in a statement on February 9.

On February 6, "Izvestia" pointed out that the Prosecutor General's Office initiated an unscheduled supervisory control measure (SCM) in relation to the company Shacman Motors LLC, which represents the Chinese brand of commercial vehicles Shacman in Russia. The reason for the inspection was the presence of information about "causing or immediate threat of causing harm to life and grave or medium harm," the Prosecutor General's Office said in a statement.

The letter from the Federal Agency for Technical Regulation and Metrology reported that the inspections of the Shacman SX32586 truck resulted in complaints about "weak design of the rear underride and side protection device, strong noise, weak braking and quiet unintelligible sound when operating GLONASS".
