Renting electric scooters in Moscow will require proof of identity

From the opening of the rental season 2025 to rent electric scooters and bicycles in Moscow will require verification on the portal mos.ru, where an account will be required. This is reported on February 10 on the portal of the mayor and the government of the capital.

The innovation will exclude the admission of children and teenagers to the services of renting means of individual mobility - they will be able to rent only from 18 years old. For violation there is a fine of 100 thousand rubles, is noted in the message. In addition, it will allow to bring traffic offenders to justice faster, said the mayor's office.

Without verification, the user will be available a test period of five trips. During this period, he will receive several notifications. If the user does not verify his identity, access to electric scooter rental services will be restricted until verification.

"Most users are disciplined, but there are those who constantly ignore traffic rules and get into accidents. Verification will allow to identify such violators in advance and block their access to rentals," the publication said.
