Russia respects Turkmenistan's foreign policy course. This was reported by Russian Ambassador to Ashgabat Ivan Volynkin on February 10.

He specified that this year the country will celebrate the 30th anniversary of its permanent neutrality twice recognized by the UN.

"I would like to note that Russia has always had great respect for the foreign policy course chosen by the Turkmen leadership," he wrote in an article for the Neutral Turkmenistan newspaper, timed to coincide with the Diplomatic Worker's Day.

According to the ambassador, the foreign policy course of the state makes an invaluable contribution to the common cause of ensuring global stability and geopolitical balance.

In addition, Volynkin added that relations between Moscow and Ashgabat have always been built on the basis of shared history, respect and mutual benefit. He noted the closeness of approaches of Russia and Turkmenistan to the main international and regional problems, as well as the determination of the states to deepen security cooperation, Gazeta.Ru reported.

Russian President Vladimir Putin said on December 31, 2024 that relations between Russia and Turkmenistan are successfully developing in the spirit of deepened strategic partnership. According to him, the leaders of the countries will continue constructive dialog in consistent work on the bilateral and international agenda.
