Details of the case of the shooter who committed a shooting at a university in Perm in 2021 have become known

Timur Bekmansurov, who organized a shooting at Perm State University in 2021, chose the day when the university was the most crowded. About it on February 10 reports "RIA Novosti" with reference to the court materials.

"To commit mass murder chose the day when the educational institution would have the largest number of students. <...> Realized that shooting in an educational institution will inevitably lead to numerous victims," - stated in the documents.

It is noted that Bekmansurov deliberately carried out shooting at crowds of people and aimed at vital organs.

According to the court, the attacker carried out the attack inside the educational institution so that it led to panic and crush, causing victims to jump out of windows and suffer injuries.

On May 7, 2024, it was reported that the Supreme Court (SC) of Russia considered Bekmansurov's appeal against the life sentence and left it unchanged. The sentence was handed down on December 28, 2022. Bekmansurov was charged under the Russian Criminal Code articles "Attempted murder," "Attempt on the life of a law enforcement officer," and "Intentional destruction or damage to property."

In November of the same year, the former student, making his last word in court, asked not to be sentenced to the maximum punishment. Bekmansurov stated that he had fully repented of the crime. He also asked to take into account mitigating circumstances and urged the court to "implement the principles of humanism and individuality of criminal punishment".

The crime was committed in September 2021. Then Bekmansurov's actions killed six people and injured 23 others with gunshot wounds. 17 people who jumped out of windows to escape were injured to varying degrees of severity. The attacker was neutralized by a police inspector who arrived on the scene.
