The Msta-S SAU hit an AFU mortar crew and an ammunition depot


An artillery crew of the Msta-S self-propelled artillery unit (SAU) of the Center group of troops has destroyed a mortar crew and an ammunition depot of the Ukrainian Armed Forces (AFU) on the Krasnoarmeyskoye direction of the special military operation (SMO). This was reported in the press service of the Russian Defense Ministry on February 10.
"In the course of offensive actions, the calculation of the reconnaissance unmanned aerial vehicle of the Center group of troops detected a mortar unit and a warehouse with ammunition of Ukrainian militants, which with its fire prevented our units from advancing," the ministry said.
"In the course of reconnaissance, servicemen of the Center group of troops from a UAV [unmanned aerial vehicle] detected a warehouse with ammunition and a mortar crew, which by its actions prevented units of the Russian Armed Forces (AF) from advancing."
"UAV operators, who are constantly watching the enemy, discounted us a target - an elementary shot, a flash. They spotted it, gave us a target, we work out there," said platoon commander Oleg Pavlov.
Having received data on the location of the target, the gun crew quickly prepared for firing and began to fulfill the combat task.
"Our UAV calculations fly in, see the outputs from the shots, give us the coordinates of the target, and we start practicing to the end," reported - gun crew commander Roman Ishcherkin.
On February 9, the Defense Ministry showed footage of how the Pantsir-S antiaircraft missile and cannon system (SAM) hit an AFU drone in the border area of Kursk region. It is specified that "Pantsir-S" allows to destroy any means of enemy air attack.
Earlier in the day, servicemen of the group of troops "Center" told about the work of the calculation of the Buk-M2 SAM system. They said that the team has only 40 seconds to detect a target. During this time it has time to fix the object with the help of a radar station, transmit the information to the control center and launch a strike.
The special operation to protect Donbass, the start of which was announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was made against the backdrop of the worsening situation in the region.
