Russia considers the West's line in the South Caucasus absolutely destructive, Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Galuzin said in an interview with Izvestia.

"It is aimed not at stabilizing the situation in this strategically important region for Russia, but at trying to "contribute" to our strategic defeat from this flank as well. Sometimes there is even talk about attempts to induce some countries to open a second front against Russia - in Transcaucasia," the Russian diplomat noted.

He also emphasized that despite the tightening of ties between Armenia and the West, the Armenian state, society and people make sovereign decisions.
