The Pantsir-S SAM system hit an AFU drone in the border area of Kursk Region

A Pantsir-S air defense missile and cannon system destroyed a drone of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) in the border area of Kursk Region. The footage was shown by the Russian Defense Ministry on February 9.

"While on combat duty, the Pantsir-S1 SAM system in the area of responsibility of the North group of troops destroyed an enemy drone," the report said.

It is specified that "Pantsir-S" allows to destroy any means of enemy air attack. To hit targets, the complex has 12 missiles, it also has two double-barrel cannons of 30 mm caliber with an ammunition set of 1400 rounds.

The Defense Ministry also said that the calculations are able to switch from standby to combat mode in 10 seconds.

Earlier in the day, military pilots of the Russian Armed Forces launched a strike from a Ka-52 helicopter on AFU positions in the border area of Kursk Region. After the strike, the crews performed anti-missile maneuvering at extremely low altitude and also fired heat traps for enemy anti-aircraft missiles.

The AFU attacked Russian positions in the border areas of Kursk Region on August 6, 2024. The situation in the region was recognized as a state of emergency of federal character. The liquidation of the Ukrainian militants who invaded the Russian territory is underway.

The special operation to protect Donbass, the beginning of which was announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was taken against the background of the aggravated situation in the region.
