A fuel oil-laden tanker in the port of Ust-Luga in the Leningrad Region had an engine failure, resulting in damage to the engine room. This was reported by the governor of the region Alexander Drozdenko on February 9.
"In the morning of February 9 in the port of Ust-Luga at the tanker "Koala" in the port of Ust-Luga there was a technogenic incident during the start of the engine, as a result of which the engine room was damaged," he wrote in his Telegram-channel.
It is noted that the tanker is currently moored at the berth, and there is no threat of oil spillage. The tanker crew has been evacuated, there are no casualties, Drozdenko said.
At the moment the engine room is being examined and the causes of the accident are being established.
