Zakharova commented on Mirage-2000 deliveries to Ukraine

The transfer of French Mirage-2000 fighter jets to Ukraine brings the situation to an even greater deadlock for the West and the Kiev regime. Maria Zakharova, an official spokeswoman for the Foreign Ministry, said on February 9.

"This is another action, which, unfortunately, drives the situation into an even greater deadlock for the West and for the Kiev regime," she said in an interview with RIA Novosti

Zakharova called Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky, whose term of office expired on May 20, a French expression for "Enfant terrible" - so called adults whose behavior corresponds to childish behavior and causes problems.

The Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman said that Zelensky was demanding more and more help from foreign allies for the Kiev regime, while realizing the stalemate of the situation.

Earlier, on February 6, the head of the French Defense Ministry Sebastien Lecornu said that the first French Mirage-2000 fighter jets had arrived in Ukraine, the delivery of which French President Emmanuel Macron announced in June 2024. He noted that the airplanes were flown by Ukrainian pilots who had been trained in France.

For his part, Russian Ambassador to France Alexei Meshkov called the delivery of Mirage-2000 fighter jets to Ukraine a free disposal. In his opinion, instead of "sawing off" the equipment at home, it is cheaper to write it off to Kiev under the guise of "another million euros of aid."

Western countries have stepped up military and financial support for Ukraine against the backdrop of Russia's special operation to defend Donbas, which was announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin on February 24, 2022, after the situation in the region worsened due to shelling by the Ukrainian military.
