Investigators began checking the situation with the grounded vessel on Sakhalin Island

Investigators have begun to establish the circumstances of the accident with a foreign vessel, which ran aground off the coast of the Nevelsky district on Sakhalin. This was reported on February 9 by the Eastern Interregional Investigation Directorate for Transport (EIDT) of the Investigative Committee (IC) of Russia in Telegram.

According to the publication, at the moment an investigative inspection is being conducted on the violation of the rules of safety of movement and operation of maritime transport (Art. 263 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation).

It is noted that at the moment investigators and criminalists establish the circumstances of the incident.

There are no casualties, there was no spillage of oil products.

Foreign cargo ship ran ag round in Nevelsky district of Sakhalin region on February 8. It is specified that the vessel has 20 crew members on board.

As noted by the Izvestia interlocutor, the cargo ship did not give a distress signal. The head of the region Valery Limarenko said that unfavorable weather conditions prevented rescue services from approaching it.
