Zakharova pointed to the ruined economies of EU countries due to support for Ukraine

The West has received from the assistance to Ukraine only the destruction of the economy of some of the largest European Union (EU) countries and disruption of logistics chains in the world. This was stated by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, on February 9.
"And apart from the destruction of Ukraine itself by the hands of the Kiev regime, in fact, we have not received anything of what we were looking for. Well, if we do not take the destroyed economy of some countries, the leading countries of the European Union, destroyed logistical world chains, if we do not take a blow to the same development, world development, which they are always talking about," she said in an interview with RIA Novosti.
Zakharova urged officials in the West to recognize the damage done, as the public and the media are increasingly talking about it.
According to her, representatives of Western countries, observing economic indicators, realize what they have done to the EU economy. Zakharova reminded that Russia supplied the EU with resources on mutually beneficial terms, providing an opportunity for economic growth and not only.
On the eve, February 8, Russian Ambassador to Helsinki Pavel Kuznetsov said that the hotel business in Finland could not compensate the trips of Russian tourists at the expense of guests from other countries. According to him, the country is unsuccessfully trying to save its economy after the rupture of relations with Russia.
Earlier, on February 5, Mikhail Ulyanov, Russia's Permanent Representative to International Organizations in Vienna, said that illegitimate anti-Russian sanctions measures of the EU and the United States create difficulties in the work of a number of Vienna-based international organizations (IGOs). At the same time, he emphasized that the conditions and prospects for lifting sanctions against Russia are not being discussed in Vienna.
Before that, on January 27, the head of EU diplomacy Kaja Kallas officially confirmed the extension of anti-Russian sanctions for six months. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov, in turn, said that there are no innovations in the extension of illegal anti-Russian sanctions by the EU for six months.
Western countries increased sanctions pressure on Russia after the start of the special operation to protect civilians in Donbass, which was announced on February 24, 2022.
