Lt. Col. Davis accused Zelensky of wanting to stay in power at all costs

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, whose term of office expired on May 20, 2024, is ready to do anything possible for the sake of trying to stay in power. This was stated by retired US Armed Forces (AF) Lieutenant Colonel Daniel Davis on February 8 on the air of his YouTube channel.
"He is interested in protecting Vladimir Zelensky. <...> He will go to any lengths to preserve his position [as Ukraine's president]," the retired military officer said.
According to Davis, Zelensky is not interested in protecting the country's citizens.
The lieutenant colonel expressed the opinion that a possible deal between the head of the Kiev regime and US President Donald Trump on rare earth metals mining shows that it is profitable for Zelensky to continue the Ukrainian conflict. Thus, he intends not to stop it under the pretext of protecting Western investments.
"Imagine if the American president said that his plan for victory is to keep trillions of dollars in his pockets. What kind of nonsense is that?", Davis added, his words quoted by RIA Novosti.
On February 7, political scientist Ivan Mezyukho told Izvestia that Zelensky and his team would like to start a war between the United States and the Russian Federation on the territory of his country for the sake of retaining power, but such plans are not destined to come true.
Prior to that, on February 5, Trump said that Washington is currently holding "very constructive talks" with Moscow and Kiev to find a way to resolve the current conflict. On the same day, his special envoy for Ukraine Keith Kellogg said that the American president intends to tighten sanctions against Russia in the oil sector to resolve the conflict in Ukraine.
The special operation to protect Donbass, the start of which Putin announced on February 24, 2022, is ongoing. The decision was taken against the backdrop of the aggravated situation in the region.
