Unfavorable weather conditions prevent rescue services from approaching the Chinese cargo ship AN YANG 2, which ran aground in the Sakhalin region. This was reported by the head of the region Valery Limarenko in his Telegram channel on February 9.
"At present, marine rescue and diving services cannot approach the vessel due to a strong storm. Decisions on unloading the vessel or removing it from the shoal will be made as soon as weather conditions improve," he said.
Limarenko also added that constant communication is maintained with the ship's crew.
The situation with AN YANG 2 is under the governor's personal control. In the Nevelsky district of the Sakhalin region, where the accident occurred, a high alert mode was introduced.
