Two-thirds of Russians supported a ban on the sale of alcohol under 21 years of age

Two thirds of Russians approve of the initiative proposed by the Investigative Committee (IC) of Russia to introduce a dry law for all persons under 21 years of age. This is reported by "Gazeta.Ru", having familiarized with the data of the Superjob poll.

"Almost two-thirds of Russians (65%) approve of the initiative, every fifth (20%) - against the ban, 15% - are still undecided. Seven out of ten citizens who do not drink alcohol, support the proposal," - quotes the statistics of the publication.

It is noted that those surveyed in the age category from 35 to 45 years old more often than other generations agreed with the need for such restrictions - 71% of respondents were in favor.

The greatest response to the initiative received among women - 73% of respondents said they supported the proposal. Among men, the approval rate of the idea amounted to 58%.

Opponents of the ban expressed fears that such measures could lead to the flourishing of moonshining and sales of counterfeit alcohol.

Earlier it was reported that from Friday to Sunday, February 7-9, the traffic police will conduct mass and continuous checks of drivers, special attention will be paid to the search for drunk motorists. Regional departments of the agency announced about the upcoming raids.

February 5, the SC RF proposed to prohibit the sale of alcohol to persons under 21 years of age. Restrictions are proposed to be introduced including on low-alcohol and beer products.

In September last year, Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Health Protection Alexei Kurinniy said that in Russia in the future may be introduced a restriction on the sale of strong alcohol under 21 years of age. According to him, discussions on raising the age of alcohol sales have been going on for the last ten years.
