VDV drone crews destroyed an accumulation of AFU troops in the special operation zone

Unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) of the Stavropol Guards Airborne Assault Cavalry Cossack Regiment of the Airborne Troops of the Dnipro group of troops have destroyed a concentration of Ukrainian Armed Forces (AFU) in the zone of a special military operation. This was reported in the press service of the Russian Defense Ministry on February 9.
"The calculations of unmanned aerial vehicles of the Stavropol Guards Airborne Assault Cavalry Cossack Regiment of the Airborne Troops of the "Dnepr" troop grouping perform day and night tasks on aerial reconnaissance, identification of targets and correction of air strikes and artillery fire, as well as make video recordings of fire damage to objects, manpower and equipment of the enemy," - said in the military ministry.
It is reported that drone operators carry out round-the-clock reconnaissance of AFU positions. The operator himself takes control of the drone, and his assistant at this time tracks on the map the direction of its flight, orienting and correcting the work.
Due to their high speed and maneuverability, UAVs are very difficult to detect and intercept. This feature makes them the most effective means of striking vehicles as well as infantry dugouts and shelters.
"We interact with electronic warfare operators so they can develop systems to counter [AFU UAVs] because frequencies change frequently. Very often we go through trophy 'birds', put our communications on them and send them back," said a senior scout with the call sign Murzik.
Earlier, on February 7, the grouping of troops "North" destroyed by calculations of FPV-drones armored vehicles of the AFU assault groups in the border area of Kursk region. It was specified that the military equipment was identified with the help of a drone.
On February 5, fighters of the "North" group of troops showed footage of 120-mm and 82-mm mortars. The military noted that the preferred targets for the 82-mm mortars are enemy infantry, light vehicles and firing points in relative proximity. At the same time, the 120-mm mortar hits drone launching points and fortified firing positions at a considerable distance from itself.
The special operation to protect Donbass, the start of which was announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was made against the backdrop of the worsening situation in the region.
