Restoring streetcar traffic in Avdiivka will require a large amount of resources

The streetcar depot in Avdeevka in the Donetsk People's Republic (DNR) is completely destroyed. This was reported by Izvestiya correspondent Yevgeniy Bykovsky on February 9.
He said that before the beginning of active hostilities in Avdeevka streetcar traffic was working properly. Transport went directly from the city center to the coke plant, the city-forming enterprise, where most of the city's residents worked.
However, at this point, after the liberation of the city, the streetcar depot was completely destroyed.
"All streetcars are burned, some are completely smashed by shrapnel, some are more or less intact, but still, most likely, the restoration of streetcar traffic in Avdeevka will take a large amount of time, effort and money," Bykovsky said.
Earlier, on March 12, 2024, the first deputy head of the Russian presidential administration, Sergei Kiriyenko, visited the coke plant in Avdiivka. It is specified that the plant has not undergone critical damage.
On February 17, Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu reportedabout the Russian army taking control of Avdeevka. He emphasized that the liberation of the city allowed to significantly secure Donetsk from the strikes of the Kiev regime, because the front line had moved away from the city. Since 2014, Ukrainian armed formations have regularly shelled residential neighborhoods of Donetsk precisely from Avdiivka.
The special operation to protect Donbass, the start of which Russian President Vladimir Putin announced on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was made against the background of the aggravation of the situation in the region due to shelling by the Ukrainian military.
