Military pilots of the Russian Armed Forces (AF) have launched a strike from a Ka-52 helicopter against positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) in the border area of Kursk Region. This was reported in the press service of the Russian Defense Ministry on February 9.

"In the course of performing a combat task to support units of the "North" group, the crew of the army aviation on the Ka-52 helicopter, as part of a mixed tactical group struck with air missiles at the personnel and armored vehicles of the AFU in the border area of the Kursk region," the military department reported.

After the strike, the crews performed anti-missile maneuvering at extremely low altitude and also fired heat traps for the AFU anti-aircraft missiles.

"The advanced aviation gunner confirmed the destruction of all AFU targets," the Defense Ministry specified.

On February 8, Uragan MLRS calculations struck the AFU positions in the south Donetsk direction of the Special Military Operation (SMO) zone. The artillerymen's combat work ensured the advance of the motorized rifle units of the Russian Armed Forces.

A day earlier it was reported that the AFU lost more than 50 armored vehicles during the failed offensive in the Kursk region. It is noted that the Ukrainian militants tried several times to go on the assault and did not expect an impressive repulse from the Russian military. As a result, when they were fired upon, instead of scattering and taking cover in a forest belt, they grouped together and were surrounded by Russian motorized riflemen.

The AFU attacked Russian positions in the border areas of the Kursk region on August 6, 2024. The situation in the region was recognized as a state of emergency of federal character. The liquidation of the Ukrainian militants who invaded the Russian territory is underway.

The special operation to protect Donbass, the beginning of which was announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was taken against the background of the aggravated situation in the region.
