German Chancellor Olaf Scholz has criticized US President Donald Trump's proposal to link continued military aid to Ukraine with guaranteed access to its raw materials, including rare earth metals. This was reported by Bloomberg news agency on February 8.

Scholz said that aid to Kiev should be provided without any conditions. He recalled when the armed conflict started in Ukraine, Germany supported the country without expecting to be repaid later.

"This should be everyone's attitude," he added.

The TV channel informed that support for Ukraine is likely to be one of the key topics at the upcoming Munich Security Conference, which begins on February 14.

At the same time, it is specified that the head of the Bundestag is moving towards a likely defeat in the upcoming elections.

"According to the latest opinion poll, his Social Democrats have 15% of the vote, while Germany's conservative opposition, led by Friedrich Merz, is currently claiming 30% of the likely vote," the channel reported

On this day, NI magazine predicted the defeat of the West because of Trump's plan for resources in Ukraine. According to the publication, if the American leader really wants to seize rare earth resources in Ukraine, the US will face more conflicts with the Russian Federation.

On February 6, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said that the US leader's words about continuing to help Kiev in return for Ukraine's rare-earth metals were more reminiscent of an "aport" command than a deal.

On February 3, Trump said that in exchange for financial and military assistance, Washington expects Ukraine to guarantee supplies of rare-earth metals. He also emphasized that the United States would require the EU to increase funding for support for Kiev.
