American entrepreneur and tslava of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) Ilon Musk on February 8 said that the country's Treasury Department pays $100 billion worth of benefits to unidentified individuals every year.

He demanded that all outgoing government payments have a payment categorization code, which is required to pass a financial audit. All payments will also be required to include a justification for the payment in the comment box, which is currently left blank.

"I was told yesterday that over $100 billion a year is currently being paid to individuals without a Social Security number or even a temporary identification number. If this is true, it is highly suspicious," Musk wrote on the X network (formerly Twitter).

The entrepreneur also informed that when asked if anyone at the Treasury Department had a rough estimate of what percentage of that number was unambiguous and obvious fraud, the consensus in the room was about half.

"That is $50 billion a year or $1 billion a week!!! This is utter insanity and it needs to be dealt with immediately," he concluded.

Trump's executive order suspending Washington's development aid to other countries for 90 days was published on the White House website on Jan. 20. Later, on January 25, Reuters reported that USAID froze programs to support foreign countries, including Ukraine, after a State Department dispatch approved by Secretary of State Marco Rubio.

On February 3, Ilon Musk announced the launch of the process to liquidate USAID. He noted that this agency is not recoverable, it should be closed. At the same time, Trump called the heads of the agency radical madmen.

Bloomberg reported on February 5 that Musk's team gained access to the room where secret USAID documents are stored. In addition, more than 100 employees of the agency have been placed on administrative leave.

After, on February 8, former British Prime Minister Gordon Brown said that the liquidation of USAID could lead to global problems and crisis in many regions of the world. According to him, this decision may cross out all the decade-long efforts of the states to build its reputation in the global community.
