A nurse at the medical station of a motorized rifle unit, Sergeant Lyudmila Bolilaya, provided first aid to wounded Russian servicemen under the shelling of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU). On Sunday, February 9, the Russian Defense Ministry told about the exploits of Russian servicemen in the zone of the special military operation (SMO).
The enemy attacked the positions of the Russian Armed Forces (AFU) with cluster munitions, some servicemen were wounded of varying degrees of severity. Bolilaya came out of hiding on the surface and began providing first aid to the wounded and preparing them for evacuation. As she was assisting one of the severely wounded soldiers, shots were heard again. The nurse covered the soldier, shielding him from shell fragments.
Bolilaya was injured and taken to the hospital for further treatment, the injured soldier survived and was also evacuated. For heroism, courage, bravery, selflessness and self-sacrifice shown in the performance of military duty, Bolilaya was presented by the command to a high state award.
The Russian Defense Ministry also noted the bravery and competent actions of Guards Junior Sergeant Kirill Yarushin, who fought with the enemy as part of an assault platoon, carrying out the task of capturing and destroying a fortified stronghold and fire installations of the AFU. When the group encountered obstacles along the route, Yarushin decided to divert the attention of the Ukrainian military so that the Russian attackers could safely pass on.
He withdrew to a sufficient distance and opened small arms fire on the AFU positions. The Ukrainian military concentrated fire on Yarushin and did not notice other attack aircraft coming in from the flank. The Russian military opened fire and eliminated six AFU soldiers. As a result, the enemy stronghold came under the control of the Russian Armed Forces.
Earlier, on February 8, the Russian Defense Ministry said that Lieutenant Ivan Kravtsov was carrying out the task of delivering ammunition to Russian servicemen to the line of contact and came under fire from the AFU.
Prior to that, on February 7, the agency said that Guards Private Pavel Laptev participated in the capture of an AFU stronghold as part of an assault group, despite being wounded in the battle.
The special operation to protect Donbass, the start of which Russian President Vladimir Putin announced on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was made against the backdrop of the worsening situation in the region.
