Rostelecom's submarine cable was damaged in the Baltic Sea. This was reported in the press service of the state operator on February 8.

It is noted that the defect was caused by external impact.

According to the TASS news agency, this situation did not affect the provision of services to Rostelecom subscribers. At the moment, work is being carried out to restore the cable.

Earlier in the day, the Finnish Coast Guard reported that a Russian cable broke off in the Gulf of Finland.

In November 2023, the Russian telecommunications cable of Rostelecom's Baltica, which connects St. Petersburg and Kaliningrad, was damaged in the Gulf of Finland. At that time, the cable damage also did not affect the operation of the communications infrastructure.
