The Russian Government has approved a proposal by the Russian Foreign Ministry not to pay a contribution to the United Nations (UN) Economic Commission for Europe (ECE) for the past year. This order was published on February 8 on the official Internet portal of legal information.

"To accept the proposal of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia, agreed with the Ministry of Finance of Russia, not to pay the contribution to the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe for the year 2024," - stated in a statement.

It is indicated that the Russian Foreign Ministry will have to inform the UN Economic Commission for Europe about the decision.

In 2023, Russia also refused to pay a fee to the UN Economic Commission for Europe for 2022. The relevant initiative was adopted by the country's Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin.
