Degtyarev opened the Paralympic Athletics Cup in Tula

On February 8, Sports Minister Mikhail Degtyarev paid a working visit to the Tula Region and together with the region's governor Dmitry Milyaev opened the Russian Athletics Cup among athletes with locomotor disabilities.

The competition was held in the sports complex "Tulitsa" and 225 para-athletes from 43 regions of the country took part in it. They competed in shot put, long and high jumps, running for various distances.

According to Degtyarev, the Ministry of Sports is systematically increasing the number of competitions for people with disabilities on the instructions of Russian President Vladimir Putin. According to him, this is an important tool of socialization and creation of equal conditions for all citizens.

"Many veterans of the NWO after injuries become active participants of the adaptive sports movement. This helps our heroes to find and realize themselves already as athletes. For this purpose, we are constantly adapting sports bases and halls. Now one third of them, more than 115 thousand sports facilities across Russia, are suitable for disabled athletes," said the Minister of Sports of the Russian Federation.

He wished all participants of the Cup success, faith and hope, noting that love for Russia and sports unites.

"With your participation, overcoming difficulties and life circumstances, you glorify Russia, glorify your regions," Degtyarev emphasized.

The Minister also visited the training base "Oka" - the first in the Russian Federation specialized training center for Paralympians.

It is noted that support for adaptive sports remains a key area of work of the Ministry of Sport. The share of sports facilities adapted for the disabled has reached almost 32% - this is more than 115 thousand facilities across the country.

Earlier, in December 2024, Degtyarev presented awards to the winners of the first all-Russian online contest "The Most Sporty Family of Russia". According to the Minister, thanks to such families, a culture of a healthy lifestyle is formed and becomes the norm in Russian society.
