An unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) crew of the engineering unit of the North group of troops has hit two Baba Yaga-type hexacopters of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) in the sky in the border region of Kursk Region. This was reported by the Defense Ministry on February 8.

In the course of drone combat duty, the air surveillance post of the engineering unit of the "North" group of troops detected an attack hexacopter of the AFU of the "Baba-Yaga" type.

The head of the UAV calculation made a decision to ram the drone and send the next drone for reconnaissance, which confirmed the hit of the target.

Later, the forward units detected a second similar drone of the AFU and turned to the same UAV calculation.

In less than one hour, Ukrainian formations lost two Baba Yaga-type heavy attack drones.

"There are a lot of results on our unit. So are the strike drones. We have more than 30 tanks, more than 50 armored fighting vehicles, vehicles more than 100 pieces. We will win, the victory will be for us", - emphasized the platoon commander with the call sign Zapal.

Earlier, on February 7, the Russian Defense Ministry published footage of the destruction of armored vehicles of the Armed Forces of Ukraine by the Russian army in the Kursk region. The footage shows a direct drone hit on the intended targets.

The AFU attacked Russian positions in the border areas of the Kursk region on August 6, 2024. The situation in the region was recognized as a state of emergency of federal character.

The special operation to protect Donbass, the start of which Russian President Vladimir Putin announced on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was taken against the background of the aggravated situation in the region.
