An army aviation crew on a Mi-28 helicopter, as part of a mixed tactical group, has struck personnel and armored vehicles of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) with air missiles in the border area of Kursk Region. This was reported by the Russian Defense Ministry on February 8.

It is specified that the pilots of the army aviation, in the course of performing a combat mission to support the units of the "North" group, carried out missile launches at specified coordinates.

After the attack, the crews performed an anti-missile maneuver at low altitude and fired heat guns to prevent the missiles from hitting the Ukrainian army's man-portable surface-to-air missile system (MANPADS).

A forward air gunner confirmed the destruction of all AFU targets.

Earlier, on February 7, an army aviation crew in a Ka-52 helicopter struck AFU equipment in the border area of Kursk Region. A forward aviation spotter confirmed the destruction of the targets.

The AFU attacked Russian positions in the border areas of the Kursk region on August 6, 2024. The situation in the region was recognized as a state of emergency of federal character. The liquidation of the Ukrainian militants who invaded the Russian territory is underway.

The special operation to protect Donbass, the beginning of which was announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was taken against the background of the aggravated situation in the region.
