One person killed and 11 injured in 50-car crash in Canada

In the Canadian province of Ontario as a result of a traffic accident on a snowy highway killed a man, 11 others were injured. This was reported by broadcaster CBC on February 7.

"The accident, which occurred Friday around 9 a.m. [8 p.m. Moscow time], has caused sections of Highway 11 to be closed for the foreseeable future. Efforts to reopen the highway are ongoing," law enforcement officials said.

It is specified that the deceased turned out to be a 49-year-old man. 11 injured drivers and passengers were taken to a local hospital with various injuries and received medical attention.

For those whose vehicles were blocked on the section of the highway, a warming center was opened, where several dozen people were located.

"We ask all citizens to avoid unnecessary travel on roads with poor visibility. Several roads are closed due to vehicle collisions," said the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP).
