Pentagon chief accuses China of seeking to undermine U.S. dominance in the world
China seeks to dominate and wants to undermine the world domination of the United States. This was stated by United States Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth on February 7.
According to him, there are powers that intend to "rise up" and reject "the strength, capabilities and beliefs of the West".
The Pentagon's job is to ensure that a deterrent effect is created that will maintain American dominance in the world, Hegseth said during a meeting with part of the department's staff.
"There are a lot of people, namely - and I've named them publicly before - the Chinese Communists, who, because of their rise, are seeking a very different view of the world. So we have to be prepared," the US defense secretary said, his words TASS reports.
On the eve of the newspaper The Guardian reported that the administration of US President Donald Trump could mark the end of the era of unipolar world, the American leader will be forced to reckon with the interests of Russia and China.
The publication recalled that earlier Secretary of State Marco Rubio noted that the world is returning to a multipolar order with "several great powers in different parts of the planet," including Russia and China. It was noted that Trump would keep his promise and find a peaceful approach to China.
