The fire danger period in the Zabaikalsky Krai in the current 2025 year will come later than a year earlier. This is facilitated by a stable snow cover, said the head of the Department of Civil Defense and Industrial Safety of the region Rinat Khismatulin during a meeting of the Committee on Agrarian Policy in the regional parliament on Friday, February 7.

"Approximately somewhere after the 20th of March. Usually by the beginning of March the territory started to burn, because, as a rule, our open areas are freed from snow cover much earlier than in forest areas," the official said, as quoted by ChitaMedia news agency.

According to Khismatulin, the firefighters want to propose to the governor to allow the districts to complete preparations for the fire-dangerous period in the spring. This will take no more than three weeks, he added.

Earlier it was reported that in the forests of the Zabaikalsky Krai will set up about 380 camera traps to search for arsonists. Information from the devices will be immediately reported to the control center.
