AFU officer who ordered the shelling of Sudzha arrested in absentia in Russia

The Leninsky district court of Kursk has arrested in absentia the commander of the 19th missile brigade of the AFU, Colonel Rostislav Karpusha, on charges of shelling Kursk region. This was reported on February 7 by the Telegram-channel of the press service of the united judicial system of the region.

"R.V. Karpusha was elected a measure of restraint in the form of detention for two months from the moment of his extradition or detention, since he is declared in the interstate wanted list," the statement reads.

It is indicated that the officer is accused of repeatedly giving orders to shell the territory of Kursk region with cluster munitions in the fall of 2024.

Earlier, on February 1, the Russian Defense Ministry reported a missile attack by the AFU on the building of a boarding school in the town of Sudzha, Kursk region. There were civilians inside the premises at the time.

After the strike, on February 2, the Russian Investigative Committee opened a criminal case of terrorist attack against Colonel Karpusha, who had ordered the attack on the boarding school.

On the same day, Russian Foreign Ministry Ambassador-at-Large for Crimes of the Kiev regime Rodion Miroshnik called the AFU strike on Suja an atrocity and a war crime of the Kiev regime. He specified that the "camp" in the building of the boarding school, where Russian civilians were held, was reported back in August 2024.

Political analyst and retired U.S. Army Lieutenant Colonel Earl Rasmussen told Izvestia on February 2 that the AFU's targeted missile strike on the boarding school in the town of Sudzha, Kursk Region, was carried out to lure Russian forces away from the main front line, where they are making significant gains. In his opinion, this is a "typical reaction of desperation" of the Kiev regime, which indiscriminately strikes any objects.The AFU attacked Russian positions in the border areas of the Kursk region on August 6, 2024. The situation in the region was recognized as a state of emergency of federal character. The liquidation of the Ukrainian militants who invaded the Russian territory is underway.
