First Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the State Corporation "Roscosmos" Denis Manturov at an operational meeting on Friday, February 7, introduced the management of the organization to the new General Director Dmitry Bakanov.

Manturov reminded that earlier the new general director has already worked in the structure of the state corporation and was responsible for the development of the satellite system "Gonets". Thus, Bakanov is familiar with the nuances of the work process and has deep expertise in many issues.

"We have already discussed with Dmitry Vladimirovich the key issues that need to be emphasized. For its part, the government will provide all the necessary support," he noted.

Among other things, Manturov noted the increased attention of Russian President Vladimir Putin to space topics. According to him, on the one hand it is a powerful support, on the other hand - a colossal responsibility.

"Space for me is not just a word - it is my destiny. It is a huge challenge for me. I will make every effort to meet expectations," Bakanov shared.

He also expressed his readiness to meet with his deputies, heads of the main enterprises of the industry in order to identify its pain points.

The new general director of Roscosmos was born in Baikonur (Leninsk) and worked in the space industry for eight years. He noted that it is a great honor for him to be appointed to this responsible post.

Former Roscosmos CEO Yuri Borisov was relieved of his post the previous day. He held his post from July 15, 2022. At the same time it was reported that his successor will be Bakanov.

Later, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that the state-owned company had simply made a rotation, noting that there were no claims against Borisov.
