Customs found 37 bugs in snack packs at Los Angeles airport

At the Los Angeles International Airport, 37 huge beetles were found during customs checks in packages with snacks. This was reported on February 7 by USA Today newspaper with reference to the U.S. Border and Customs Service.

Agricultural specialists at the airport discovered the bugs in January. It is specified that the insects were hidden in several packages of Japanese snacks, potato chips and chocolate with a total value of more than $1.4.

It is noted that the size of the bugs is "almost the length of an average human hand," reaching a maximum of five inches (12.7 centimeters).

Los Angeles Customs and Border Protection field operations director Cheryl M. Davis shared that the insects may look harmless, but pose a serious threat to "vital agricultural resources."
