The US noted the superiority of the Russian Air Force aircraft over the Mirage-2000 delivered to Kiev

The Mirage-2000 fighter jets, which France has transferred to support Ukraine, are significantly inferior to Russian Su-30SM and Su-35 aircraft in terms of technical characteristics. This was reported by Military Watch Magazine (MWM) on February 6.

"Fighter jets delivered to Ukraine are significantly inferior to Russian ones, such as Su-30SM and Su-35," - stated in the material.

It is noted that this class of French fighters does not have fundamentally new capabilities, which were not, for example, in the aircraft F-16 or MiG-29.

According to the publication, Mirage-2000 fighters are expected to be used as ground launchers for cruise missile attacks, but they will operate far behind the front line.

In addition, the Mirage-2000 has less outstanding flight characteristics, but according to the authors of the article, this will allow Ukraine to deploy more fighter squadrons, as the country's fleet of Soviet-made aircraft is depleted.

On February 6, the head of the French Defense Ministry, Sebastien Lecornu, said that the first French Mirage 2000 fighter jets had arrived in Ukraine, the delivery of which French President Emmanuel Macron announced in June 2024. Lecornu noted that the airplanes were flown by Ukrainian pilots who had been trained in France.

Russian Ambassador to France Alexei Meshkov, for his part, called the delivery of Mirage-2000 fighter jets to Ukraine a free disposal. In his opinion, instead of "sawing off" the equipment at home, it is cheaper to write it off to Ukraine under the guise of "another million euros of aid".

Western countries have stepped up military and financial support for Ukraine against the backdrop of Russia's special operation to protect Donbas, which was announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin on February 24, 2022, after the situation in the region worsened due to shelling by the Ukrainian military.
