Summary of special operations in Ukraine for the week
A special military operation to protect civilians in Donbas has been carried out by Russia since February 24, 2022. According to the Defense Ministry, during the week units of the Center group of troops continued to advance deep into the enemy's defenses and liberated the settlements of Krymskoye, Baranovka and Druzhba in the DNR.
In addition, Western fighters took control of Novomlynsk in Kharkiv region.
During the week, units of the "North" troop group foiled an attempted counter-offensive by the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) in the direction of the settlements of Cherkasskaya Konopelka and Ulanok in Kursk Region. In total, the Russian army repelled eight waves of attacks in this direction.
Russian troops launched eight group strikes with high-precision weapons and strike unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), which hit gas and energy infrastructure facilities that support the Ukrainian military-industrial complex, military airfields, assembly, storage and preparation sites for the use of strike drones, training of drone operators and electronic warfare specialists, ammunition and fuel and lubricants depots of the AFU, as well as temporary locations of the enemy.
During the week, 19 Ukrainian servicemen surrendered to the Russian army.
Also, Russian fighter aviation shot down a Ukrainian Su-27 in an aerial battle. During the week, air defense forces shot down a Neptune long-range guided missile, six Hammer guided bombs, 41 HIMARS multiple launch rocket system (MLRS) shells and 630 aircraft-type UAVs.
In total, 653 aircraft, 283 helicopters, 42,617 drones, 592 anti-aircraft missile systems, 21,242 tanks and other armored combat vehicles, 1,514 MLRS combat vehicles, 21,326 field artillery and mortars, 31,384 units of special military vehicles have been destroyed since the beginning of the special military operation.
