Axios has learned of Netanyahu's willingness to end the Gaza war after expelling Hamas leaders

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is ready to end the conflict in Gaza if the leaders of the Palestinian radical movement Hamas go into exile. This was reported by interlocutors of the Axios portal on February 6.

It is specified that Netanyahu told U.S. officials that he plans to extend the first phase of the ceasefire agreement in order to release more hostages in exchange for Palestinian prisoners.

According to Axios, Netanyahu made it clear that during negotiations on the second phase of the agreement, he intends to present Hamas with a proposal that includes an end to the war in Gaza and the release of "senior" Palestinian prisoners that Israel would not release in the first phase of the agreement.

Senior Israeli officials say Hamas has already agreed to relinquish civilian control of Gaza and hand over responsibility for the reconstruction process to the Palestinian Authority or an independent committee.
