Russian ambassador to France says Moscow refuses to freeze the conflict in Ukraine
Russian Ambassador to France Aleksey Meshkov believes that the Russian Federation will not fall for the tricks of the West and will not allow it to rearm Kiev, freezing the conflict. He toldRIA Novostion February 6.
"There is a desire in the West - when they see how the front in Ukraine is collapsing - to urgently freeze hostilities, deploy their contingents there and start rearming Ukrainian troops," the diplomat said.
He also added that Russia sees all these tricks and is unlikely to fall for them.
Earlier in the day, the Russian Foreign Ministry called the temporary truce in the conflict in Ukraine unacceptable. Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova said that Russia needed "reliable, legally binding agreements and mechanisms that would guarantee the prevention of a resumption of the crisis".
On 4 February, NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutte said that the alliance had prepared secret tactics for talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Ukraine. At the same time, he added that the West should provide Kiev with the best possible position by providing it with weapons and training for Ukrainian soldiers.
The last round of talks between Russia and Ukraine took place in Istanbul on March 29, 2022. They lasted about three hours. Later, Kiev officially refused contacts with Moscow. On October 4, 2022, the Ukrainian president put into effect the decision of the country's National Security and Defense Council on the impossibility of holding talks with Putin.
