Russian ambassador to Japan talks about contacts between Moscow and Tokyo

Russia and Japan maintain interaction at the working level, Russian Ambassador to Tokyo Nikolai Nozdrev told Izvestia.

"At the moment, purely for pragmatic reasons, we maintain interaction at the working level to resolve current issues. The channel of communication between defense agencies is also maintained, in particular, through the offices of military attachés at embassies," the diplomat said.

At the same time, Nozdrev emphasized that Moscow is not interested in making contacts for the sake of contacts.

"Without the refusal of the Japanese political establishment from the anti-Russian line not in words but in deeds, a return to full-format bilateral work is out of the question," the ambassador added.
