The Danilov Monastery in Moscow hosted a meeting between Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia and Pakistani Ambassador to Russia Muhammad Khalid Jamali to strengthen and develop relations between the religious communities of the countries. The website of the Russian Orthodox Church (ROC) reported on February 6.

"We believe in one God who created the world and man. We are convinced that God's commandments should be the norms that define human life. And this means that on the most important issue we are united. Therefore, today it is more important than ever to strengthen the relationship between Christians and Islam," the patriarch said.

He cited an example that is of concern to all believers, recalling the legalization and state support in some countries for gender reassignment, including for children and adolescents. The Patriarch stated that such actions are a challenge to all believers.

Thus, he noted that the topic of Orthodox-Islamic dialog is becoming even more relevant, since Christians and Muslims in Russia agree with each other on most issues, especially those related to the preservation of traditional values.

Ambassador Jamali also expressed readiness to promote communication between religious leaders of Russia and Pakistan.

Earlier, on February 1, Russian President Vladimir Putin congratulated Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia on the day of enthronement. The Russian leader thanked the patriarch for everything he does for the Orthodox people of the country.

On January 7, Patriarch Kirill illuminated crosses and icons for servicemen in the zone of a special military operation at the request of the Russian President. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov noted that Putin had asked that his initials be engraved on the individual links of the chains to the crosses.
